Fun with Boxes

Chloe's favorite toy lately is a box.  She can have more fun with boxes.  This week she made a puppet theater out of a large box.  She used her stuffed animals to put on a puppet show.  She told stories about Adam and Eve and the Passover!!  Catherine enjoyed the show as well!!

Teddy Bear Sleep Over!!

Last Thursday night, the Teddy Bears brought from Chloe's classmates had a sleep-over at FCA.  The children went over the rules of the classroom with the bears and made sure that they understood the day before.   When the children came back on Friday morning, the bears had not done a good job of following the classroom rules.  They had made a complete disaster of the classroom.... they had toys everywhere, books were the floor, caution tape was across the door, the classroom tree was turned over. It was a huge mess!!  Each of the bears was somewhere hidden in the classroom.  Chloe's bear was in the mailbox!! The lesson learned was that even though the children did not make the mess, they were encouraged to forgive and clean up the classroom.  What great fun and great lessons in grace and forgiveness!!

This Week

Cute pictures from this week...............  While Chloe was helping Daddy fix the dishwasher, she said she had to get out her "ranch" out of her toolbox!!

First Day of School!!

Chloe had her first day of Pre-K on Wednesday, August 8th.  That morning, she said, "Mommy, I'm a little nervous."  I reassured her that it was normal and "just fine" to be a little nervous.  When I picked her up at noon, she was so excited and had so much fun.  She told me that she was going to walk in all by herself the next day!!

I am so thankful for FCA....  I am so grateful that my children have been given the opportunity to attend a school where they can still bow their head to pray and hold their sweet hands over their hearts as they say the Pledge of Allegiance.  I am so blessed that I do not have to worry as much about what will be ingrained in their innocent minds about "tolerance" to worldly views and that they will be given the opportunity to hear God's word EVERY DAY!!  I am so mindful of the Christian teachers that are with our chidren each day and the wonderful example that they are.  Thank you God for Christian schools and for FCA!!

Last Weekend Before School!!

Last weekend, as a last hoorah before school, we took Chloe to swim at a local motel with Elizabeth, who was spending the night there with her daddy.  The girls had so much fun!!  Catherine and Davis did not mind it as well!!

8 Months Old!!

Catherine is 8 months old!!!  She continues to bring so much joy into our lives.  She is now eating solids every day and drinking lots of formula.  Catherine started sitting by herself several weeks ago and can get in and out of this position by herself.  She recognizes familiar people now and will squeal and laugh out loud when she sees them, especially Chloe.  She "combat crawls" everywhere and can get wherever she wants to go.  She will rock back and forth on her knees, but is not yet crawling on them. She is a very vocal little girl and has begun to cry whenever we leave the room, as she is beginning to demonstrate some separation anxiety. Catherine spent her first night away from us this past Sunday night as she stayed with Grammy and O'Pa.  She did a great job, but we sure did miss her!!

Chloe Starts FCA!!!

Next Wednesday, Chloe will be an official student at FCA!!!  (She has been registered since she was about 3 months old).  She will be in Ms. Phyllis' 4 year-old Kindergarten class.  On Tuesday morning, she had an open house to visit her new school and classroom and meet her teacher and fellow students.  Right now there are only 6 kids in her class, which is wonderful!!

Nursing Home Visit

On Thursday, we went to eat with several folks from Lehman Avenue and then went to Morningside Nursing Home to have a short devotional and visit with the residents.  The reseidents loved seeing all of the kids and the children had a great time as well!!

Beech Bend!!

Last Wednesday, we went to Beech Bend with Alec and Avery. It was only 110 degrees with the heat index, but the kids had a great time anyway!! Conlee, Caden, and Maddox were there too, which made for an even better time!!
